Special 13-Month CD at First Community Bank of America in SW Florida - Local Only

First Community Bank of America has a special 13-month CD with a 2.07% APY. Minimum deposit is $5,000. There's also a competitive standard 24-month CD with a 2.40% APY. These rates don't seem to be listed at the bank's website. A reader mentioned this special, so I contacted the bank yesterday (1/28/2010). The rates are subject to change at any time.

A branch visit is required to open an account. Branches are located in several Southwest Florida cities including St. Petersburg, Port Charlotte, Apollo Beach and Dade City.

The bank's ratings for safety and soundness are weak: 2 stars (problematic) at BauerFinancial and 1 star (lowest) at Bankrate.com. Both ratings are based on 9/30/09 financial data. The bank has been a FDIC member since 1985 (FDIC Certificate # 32270).
