Competitive Mid-Term CD & IRA Rates at Access Credit Union in Chicago - Local Only

Access Credit Union is offering several competitive share and IRA certificates. The most competitive are its mid-term CDs. These include a 2.15% APY 24-month CD, a 1.75% APY 18-month CD and a 1.55% APY 12-month CD. Minimum deposit is $10,000. Rates are 15 basis points lower for a $500 minimum deposit. These rates are listed at the credit union's rate table as of 5/24/2010.

Membership is open to those who live or work in one of several Illinois communities including parts of Chicago. You can also be eligible via Select Employer Groups. Please refer to the credit union's Eligibility Page for the full details.

The credit union's ratings for safety and soundness have fallen since my last review in 2009. At BauerFinancial the rating has dropped from 5 stars to 4 stars (excellent). There was a bigger drop at Bankrate.com. That rating fell from 4 stars to 2 stars (below peer group). The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 68368).
