High-Yield Reward Checking Account at 1st Community FCU in Texas - Local Only

1st Community Federal Credit Union is offering a high-yield reward checking account called Priority Checking. The rate for the first tier is currently above average for reward checking. However, the second tier is worse than average. Another downside is a debit card usage requirement that's above average. Below are the rates and features if certain monthly requirements are met:

  • 4.01% APY on balances up to $25,000
  • 0.10% APY on portion of balance over $25,000
  • 0.10% APY if requirements are not met
  • ATM refunds up to $25 per item and $25 per cycle

The above rates are listed at the credit union's Priority Checking page as of 5/20/2010. The monthly requirements include:

  • 15 debit card purchases
  • Access "CU Easy" Online Banking at least once per cycle
  • Receive statements electronically

Other features of the account include:

  • No monthly service fee
  • No minimum balance

Membership is open to those who live or work in any of the following Texas counties: Tom Green, Schleicher, Runnels, Pecos, Brewster, Coke, Concho, Crockett, Irion, Kimble, McCulloch, Mason, Menard, Reagan, Sterling, and Sutton . Please refer to the credit union's about page for the full details.

Membership requires a $5 one-time fee and a minimum balance of $25 in the share savings account.

Branches are located in San Angelo, Eldorado, Ballinger and Fort Stockton.
