High-Yield Reward Checking Account at Old West FCU in Oregon - Local Only

Old West Federal Credit Union is offering a high-yield reward checking account called Grow Green Checking. It has the following rates and features if certain monthly requirements are met (as of 10/8/2010):

  • 3.01% APY for balances up to $25,000
  • 1.01% APY for portion of balance over $25,000
  • 0.05% base rate if requirements are not met
  • Unlimited nationwide ATM fee refunds

Monthly requirements include:

  • 12 debit card purchases
  • 1 direct deposit or ACH auto debit
  • Receive e-Statements

There are no minimum balance requirements and no monthly fees regardless of meeting the above requirements.

Membership is open to those who live or work in one of eight eastern Oregon counties. Please refer to the credit union's About page for more details.

Branches are located in the Oregon cities of John Day, Baker City, Prairie City, Pendleton and Hermiston.

On a related note, South Division Credit Union, which previously had been offering 4%, just dropped to 2%.  This is posted on their website, but as an account holder I got no warning emailed to me.  This Credit Union is available nationally through its on-line website.
