Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union is still offering a special 13-month CD. The rate has fallen since my last post. It's now 1.60% APY which is still very competitive for a term that's just over one year. As a comparison, the best 1-year CD rate from internet banks is only 1.50% APY. The credit union's special CD has a minimum deposit of $250. This rate is listed on the credit union's what's new page as of 10/19/2010.
The Primary Savings account has a rate of 7% APY on balances up to $500. Balances over $500 earn 0.25%. With a balance of $500, you'll earn about $30 per year more in this than a 1% account. Since you need to maintain a savings account for membership, it's nice it can earn a little bit of interest.
Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, or attends school in Essex or Middlesex counties, the cities or towns of Fitchburg, Harvard, Leominster, Lunenburg or Lancaster, or the New Hampshire counties of Hillsborough or Rockingham. Please refer to the credit union's Membership page for the full details.
There's an online application that's provided by cashedge.com. It allows electronic ACH funding from your existing checking account. A membership savings account with a minimum balance of $5 is required to maintain membership.
Branches are located in the Massachusetts cities of Chelmsford, Dracut, Lowell, Methuen, Tyngsboro and Westford.
The credit union has an overall health score at DepositAccounts.com of 4 out of 5 with a Texas Ratio of 7.19% (excellent) based on June 2010 data. Please refer to our financial overview of Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union for more details. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 67352).
