Rollstone Bank and Trust

Rollstone Bank & Trust is offering a special 35-month CD and IRA CD with a 2.50% APY. Minimum deposit is $100. This rate is listed in the bank's deposit rates table as of the morning of 10/01/2010.

The bank also has a nice savings account called Prime Saver. It's a tiered savings account with top yield of 1.47% APY for balances of $60K and above. The rates are much lower for the lower tiers (from 0.16% to 0.98%). Minimum deposit is $2,500. Another downside is that it requires the Presidential Checking Account. These rates are listed in the bank's deposit rates table as of 10/01/2010.

The bank has long offered a reward checking account. In 2007 it started out with a 6.01% APY for balances up to $100K. The rate has fallen considerably, and it's now 2.25% APY for balances up to $50K (see post).

Last year readers reported being told by the bank that you must live within 50 miles of a branch, and the accounts must be opened in the branch. Branches are located in Fitchburg, Leominster, Harvard and Townsend, Massachusetts.

The bank has an overall health score of 3 out of 5 with a Texas Ratio of 10.38% (excellent) based on 6/30/10 data. Please refer to our financial overview of Rollstone Bank and Trust for more details. The bank was established in 1846 and has been a FDIC member since 1957 (Certificate # 17797).
