Top CD and IRA CD Rates at Neighbors FCU in Louisiana - Local Only

Neighbors Federal Credit Union has several competitive rates on its Jumbo share certificates. Minimum deposit is $100,000. Rates are 25 basis points lower for the regular share certificates which have minimum deposit of $1,500. The same rates are also available for IRA certificates. Below is a summary of the rates as listed in the Jumbo certificates page as of 11/24/2010:

As a comparison to internet banks on 11/24/2010, the best 5-year CD rate is 2.60% APY at Discover Bank, and the best 3-year CD rate is 2.05% APY at Bank of Internet USA. For credit unions with easy membership, the best 5-year and 3-year CD rates are 3.03% APY and 2.27% APY at Melrose Credit Union.

The credit union also offers a high yield reward checking account. The account used to have a yield of 4.51% APY for balances up to $25K. Both the rate and balance cap have fallen. It's now 3.51% APY for up to $10K (see post).

Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in any of the following 9 Louisiana parishes: East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Ascension, Livingston, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, East Feliciana, West Feliciana, and Saint Helena.
