High-Yield Reward Checking with Two Options at PriorityONE Credit Union of Florida - Local Only
For those who don't like to use debit cards, reward checking hasn't been a good option. The debit card usage is typically is one of the main requirements to qualify for the high rates. The unique thing about PriorityONE Credit Union of Florida is they give members two types of reward checking accounts. Both are free of monthly fees. For those who don't like debit cards, there's the Go Green checking which has the following rates and features as of 2/16/2011:
- 1.50% APY on balances up to $25,000
- 0.00% for portion of balance over $25,000
- 0.00% base rate if requirements are not met
Monthly requirements include:
- Direct deposit of at least $150 per month
- Receive e-statements
For those who are willing to use a debit card and make online bill payments, the credit union offers the I-Net checking with the following rates and features as of 2/16/2011:
- 2.50% APY on balances up to $25,000
- 0.00% for portion of balance over $25,000
- 0.00% base rate if requirements are not met
Monthly requirements include:
- 12 debit card purchases
- 2 Online Bill Payments
- Direct deposit of at least $150 per month
- Receive e-statements
Note, I found the rates of both of these accounts listed in the credit union rates page. However, I couldn't find where they described the details of the I-Net checking. I had to call them for these details.
The credit union also offers some fairly competitive long-term CD rates.

PriorityONE Credit Union is a fabulous financial institution. The service is awesome and the products are much better than what one can receive from a bank. Why would anyone have a checking account elsewhere?

I personally wouldn't consider having a bank make me jump through so many hoops for a whopping 1.5%! I like to keep my banking very simple, so their demand of 12 debit card transactions and the direct deposits and so forth is a ridiculous thing to have to keep track of. Make only elven transactions last month? You get zero. You can find 1.5% elsewhere for much less hassle.
