Top 9-Month CD Rate Continues at Miami Postal Service Credit Union - Local Only

Miami Postal Service Credit Union is still offering a very competitive 9-month CD. The rate is 1.76% APY for a minimum deposit of $5,000. The rate is 1.56% APY for a $1,000 minimum. The $5K is considered a Jumbo deposit (smallest Jumbo CD that I've seen). The other CD rates have fallen since my last post, but they remain competitive. The best include a 1.51% APY 18-month CD and a 1.97% APY 3-year CD. These rates are listed at the credit union's deposit rates page as of 2/2/2011. Since there's an old date on this page, I called the credit union this morning and confirmed these rates are up-to-date as of this morning.

I first posted on this 9-month CD in late 2009. At that time, this was a decent deal. Now it's a hot deal. As compared to other banks on 2/2/2011, the best 9-month CD rate is 1.15% APY at TotalBank.

In addition to postal employees and retirees, membership is open to everyone who lives, works or worships within a 15 mile radius of the three credit union branches. Membership is also open to Federal Government employees and their families. Please refer to the credit union's eligibility page for the full details. Membership requires a minimum $5 balance in the share savings account.
