Their 1 year cd has a rate of .83% so I don't know how long they'll hold these money market rates my guess would be not very long.

I'm already a Money One member.  It's a good CU so I very nearly went for the deal.  However, I have reconsidered after seeing this trap:

You get in (you open the MM account) and soon thereafter the rate falls.  You must leave $25,000 in the account to avoid monthly fees. and there is no way to close the account within six months without incurring a $10 early closing fee.  So you are trapped if the rate falls.

Rep said this has been the rate for a while, so it might just hold.  Still, not worthwhile for me.

A representative of Money One FCU provided the following response to the above comments:

Thanks for your comments and allowing Money One to serve your banking needs. Our REWARDChecking offers a 3.01% Annual Percentage Yield (APY) on balances up to $10,000. It is not a teaser rate. There’s no minimum balance, no monthly service fees and nationwide ATM fee refunds up to $30.

To earn this APY and rewards, simply meet these qualifications within the monthly qualification cycle:
Have at least 10 debit card purchases post and clear
Have at least 1 automatic payment or direct deposit post and clear
Receive eStatements
Access online banking.

We offer 2 types of Insured Money Market accounts.  We don’t charge a fee for our Regular Insured Money Market account.  Our Premium Insured Money Market account offers a higher rate; requires a $25k min. balance and there is a $10 fee when you fall below.  The $10 early closing fee within 6 months is not if someone closes their money market account.  The fee is only when the entire relationship is closed within 6 months after opening.  Please feel free to email us at for any additional information.
