Riverset Credit Union

Keep an eye out for credit unions promotions. With so much publicity of Bank of America's new debit card fees and the November 5th Bank Transfer Day, credit unions are hoping to attract people fleeing their megabanks. Here's one credit union deal for those in the Pittsburgh area. Riverset Credit Union is offering a bonus of up to $150 for opening a checking account. They also offer a free checking account with no minimum balance requirements, and they give members free access to PNC Bank ATMs. The promotion is scheduled to end on 11/15/2011. Below are the promo details as described at the top of their checking page:

Open a Riverset checking account with a qualifying direct deposit or payroll deduction and receive $50 in cash and 5,000 Riverset Rewards bonus points (a $50 value). Add e-statements and online bill pay and that’s 5,000 more bonus points for a total of a $150 value*.

And here is the offer's small print:

All checking accounts are subject to verification from ChexSystems. Must have a qualifying direct deposit or payroll deduction transaction within 30 days of opening your account to qualify for the $50 in cash. Riverset Rewards bonus points can only be awarded once you enroll your Riverset VISA Debit Card in the Riverset Rewards program, powered by Uchoose. See. All bonus points will be applied to the account the month following account opening as long as the card has been registered by the user. Members will not be automatically enrolled. Promotion ends 11/15/2011.

Membership is open to those who live, work, worship or attend school in Allegheny, Beaver and Butler counties in Pennsylvania. Please refer to the credit union's membership page for the full details.

Riverset Credit Union has two branches in Pittsburgh. It's also part of the Credit Union Service Centers. This allows members to use shared branches around the nation.

The credit union has an overall health score at DepositAccounts.com of 5 stars (out of 5) with a Texas Ratio of 1.37% (excellent) based on June 2011 data. Please refer to our financial overview of Riverset Credit Union for more details. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 65138).
