CD rates have gone down at SPCO Credit Union since my last report of this credit union in September, but they remain very competitive. The long-term share certificate rates are the most competitive. These include a 2.77% APY for 5 years, 2.32% APY for 4 years and 1.97% APY for 3 years. These are the Jumbo CD rates which require a $50K minimum deposit. The rates are 20 to 30 basis points lower for the regular CDs which have a $1K minimum deposit. These rates are listed in the credit union's share rates page as of 1/27/2012.
The credit union recently expanded its field of membership to include everyone who lives, works, or worships within 10 miles of both of the credit union's Houston offices. Please refer to the credit union's Who Can Join page for more details.
It's a small credit union with just $31 million in assets. It has an overall health score at DepositAccounts.com of 5 stars (out of 5) with a Texas Ratio of 7.96% (excellent) based on September 2011 data. The credit union is federally insured by the NCUA (Charter # 61438)
How These CD Rates Compare

Fort Knox FCU actually has the top 4-year CD rate with a 2.20% APY. These rates are accurate as of 1/27/2012.
