Checking and CD Special at MountainOne Bank in MA

POSTED ON BY

MountainOne Bank

MountainOne Bank has two nice deposit account promotions. The first is a checking account bonus. Open a VISTA Checking account with $50 and the bank will deposit $50 in your new VISTA Money Market account. So you’ll need to open both the VISTA Checking and Money Market account to qualify for this bonus. Account must be opened by March 31, 2014. Full details are listed in the bank’s home page.

The second promotion is a CD special. The bank is offering a 1.30% APY on a 13-month CD. Minimum deposit is $1,300, and the maximum is $130,000 per customer. This special is listed in the bank’s rates page as of 1/30/2014.

Both the VISTA Checking and Money Market accounts have the potential for monthly service fees. These can be avoided with either direct deposit or eStatements. The VISTA accounts do have some nice features such as ATM fee reimbursements of up to $9 per statement period when you other banks’ ATMs.

Availability

The VISTA accounts can be opened online by residents of New England and New York State. I don’t see an online application for the CDs so a branch visit may be required.

MountainOne Bank branches are located in several parts of Massachusetts and Vermont. Last year MountainOne Bank acquired South Coastal Bank which added branches in the Boston area.

Bank Overview

MountainOne Bank acquired South Coastal Bank in 2013 and Williamstown Savings Bank in 2012. These banks have continued to operate under their old names, but they’re now divisions of MountainOne Bank.

The bank has an overall health grade at DepositAccounts.com of a B+ with a Texas ratio of 17.81% (above average) based on September 2013 data. Please refer to our financial overview of MountainOne Bank for more details. The bank has been a FDIC member since 1985 (FDIC Certificate # 90253).
