Generations Federal Credit Union is offering a promotional certificate with very competitive rates. It has a 1.60% APY for a $100,000 minimum deposit or a 1.50% APY for a $10,000 minimum. It’s interesting to note that Generations had a similar promotion in late 2012. In that case the CD had a 1.50% APY for terms of 18 to 21 months. It’s nice to see this new promotion has similar rates for shorter terms. It’s another indication that rates are trending up.

This Generations special is the best short-term CD deal in the San Antonio area. Security Service Federal Credit Union also has a good deal in San Antonio and a few other Texas areas with a 1.25% APY for a 13-month term. The Corpus Christi area has long had great CD deals from a few local credit unions. The best short-term deal is a 1.50% APY 12-month CD at Gulf Coast Credit Union.
