Good point buck. We switched over to a tankless water heater. It heats the water instantly and only when you need it. Why pay to keep it warm all day.

Actually I read that 40% statistic is vastly overinflated. "Phantom" electricity use is a very tiny portion of your overall bill for the vast majority of households.

I have achieved real savings by switching to a 'Tracfone' prepaid cellphone. At the moment I'm paying $9.99 per month for 50 minutes, and the costs can't go over budget as they can on a contract.

Good advice and important in their understandable simplicity. Often advice for saving can be depressing or complicated enough to set aside for a later moment which never comes. A good idea is to turn off the hot water when you leave for work. Why heat the water all day when no one is home?
