I opened one of these CDs in Irving, Texas on November 19 and did not have to open a checking or savings account.

I opened one of these CD's in Sarasota FL on 11/18 and was not required to open a checking or savings account. I did have to go into a branch (called ahead to ensure they were offering the product). I was in and out in 10 minutes. Great service! No credit check. I was told the rate would be available until they fulfilled their deposit targets. Apparently it has been in effect since August (at least at this branch).

It's now down to 2% APY as of this morning per the CSR at the branch in Southlake, Texas.

Thanks for the update. I also confirmed it with an Austin branch so it looks widespread. Unfortunately, 2% is still competitive for an 11-month term.

Confirming that the rate has also dropped to 2.0% in Florida as of Dec 14.

Thanks for confirming this for Florida. Looks like it's probably for all branches. At least they didn't lower it below 2%. Unfortunately, in today's environment 2% for 11 months is still quite competitive.
