American Express' Gold Credit Card line is one of the premier sets of credit cards available. Having a Gold branded American Express card has been a beacon of customer service, rewards, business travel, and exclusive perks for decades. American Express Gold Credit Card

This is the original exclusive credit card. The AMEX Gold card comes with a rewards program that gives you 1 point on almost every dollar spent on your credit card. Your points have no expiration date and can be used for flights with no blackout restrictions. You get exclusive low rates and a $75 dining credit when you stay 2 or more nights at Le Meridien, W, Sheraton, and Westin properties when you book through American Express.

American Express Premier Rewards Gold Credit Card

If you are looking for the exclusive status of an AMEX Gold Card but want to earn rewards faster, the Premier Rewards Gold card is a great option. You pay no annual fee for the first year of card membership, and $175 per year after that. Is the increased annual fee worth it? You will get 3 points for every dollar spent on airfare, and 2 points for dollars spent on gas and groceries. The rest of your spending on the card still earns 1 point per dollar spent.

You can redeem all of those points on a wide variety of rewards including flights without blackout dates, gift cards to popular retailers, and tickets to entertainment.

Perks and Benefits of American Express Gold

Having an American Express Gold credit card comes with tremendous benefits, including:

Points never expire. The reward points you earn will never expire no matter how many you earn.
No blackout dates. When you convert your points into flights you won't run into blackout dates or seat restrictions with the airlines.
Transfer points to frequent flyer programs. If your favorite frequent flyer program offers a sale you want to take advantage of, you can transfer in some or all of your AMEX Gold reward points to that program.
Exclusive travel deals. AMEX Gold comes with exclusive deals at destinations worldwide, and you can use your points to pay for that travel.

Travel insurance. When you charge your fare to the card you will receive $250,000 in complimentary accidental death and dismemberment insurance.
Baggage insurance. Your baggage and its items will be covered from damage, loss, and theft when you book your fare on the card.
Extended warranty. Any item you buy that comes with a warranty of 5 years or less through the manufacturer will get an automatic extension of 1 year thanks to American Express.
Refund protection. If you buy something and the store won't let you return it, don't worry about it. American Express will refund the amount to you.
Purchase protection. You won't be held responsible for fraudulent charges, and your purchases will be covered from accidental damage for the first 90 days of owning the item if you paid for it on the card.
Exclusive ticket access. American Express pre-reserves sections of tickets to events and can get you access when no one else can. You can even purchase them before they go on sale to the public.
