Banks' Checking Account Disclosure Forms Miss Key Information

This Huffington Post article has one especially useful tip when opening a bank account: make sure you find out how to close it. Banks often don't make this easy, and it's often not easy to find in the documentation. That's even the case for a few big banks that have come out with new and simplified checking account disclosure forms:
In the last six months or so, several big banks have created new forms to summarize their most common fees in an easy-to-read short format.

Their failure, however, to include information about how to close an account is a serious omission. Before one opens a bank account, it's always helpful to know how to close it.
