Thanks for posting this. First time I had ever seen this issue.

Probably not that important to each spouse, but great for estate planning and the death of the second spouse.

If the estate tax exemption reverts to $1 million per spouse next year, then the benefit is certainly diminished. Another reason to vote for Romney. Sorry for the political rant.
