Poor Customer Service, Harsh Early Withdrawal PenaltyStanford Federal Credit Union
You'd think a credit union located on campus at Stanford would be great. But no. Calls go into voicemail, email contacts are generic addresses and you can never seem to get the same person twice. Staff is frumpy and don't seem to care. If their app fails, they just shrug it off - try it tomorrow. Early withdrawal penalty for CDs over $100K is 365 days interest - worst I've seen. A good CD jumbo rate of 2.1% if your paycheck is deposited there (as of summer 2012). Campus office is rather busy, so Stanford students and staff are using this credit union, but I don't know why.

Seriously, calls going to voicemail is a problem for you? Generic addresses for email contacts is a big eww in your world? And OMG, how can you even stand to use an institution where the staff doesn't dress in the latest fashions? You're right, you are much too good and too cool for them. (Not).
But dude, if this is how you pick banks you'll be "lookin" for a while for "somethin'" you can be happy with.

I actually had an unpleasant experience with this credit union. A couple of years ago I opened an HSA account there and was promised by the phone representative that they would not pull my credit report. I made her check with a superivisor to make sure she was right. Guess what - a week later my AAA credit alert service indicated that I had received a hard inquiry from them. I complained to the representative and the supervisor and was informed they had made a mistake. When I asked them to contact the credit bureau to reverse the inquiry, they refused. Adding insult to injury, the rate on the HSA account dropped a week later. I will confirm what the first poster has said, they are not very helpful with their customers.
