At first look this checking account special at Palisades Federal Credit Union looked like a very good deal with a 1.00% APY guaranteed for the first 12 months. According to the front page ad, the 1.00% APY applies "on any balance". However, according to the small print (and confirmed by a CSR), "1.00% APY given on first $25,000 deposited. Balances above $25,000 will receive standard account rates." Nevertheless, this might be useful for some who don't have large savings that they want to keep liquid over the next year.
