In addition to the regulations and removal of regulations, this Mintlife infographic shows the history of the FDIC deposit insurance coverage limit. When the FDIC started in 1933, the standard deposit coverage was $2,500. By 1980, this had increased to $100,000. It remained at $100,000 until it was recently raised to $250,000 in 2008.
