Thanks for the info on Navy Pearl but after all the problems I had getting them to do my 5 year CD the way I requested, I would not bother with the Special. If they allowed the interest on a longer term and for a larger amount, it would be worth it to me but not as it is. These are usual "teaser" rates and a lot of banks do this but they make the maxiumum so small it just is not worth bothering with for me. Others may feel differently.

I agree that it would have been nice if the CD allowed a larger deposit or if it were for a longer term. On the other hand, the rate is better than what I am getting overall on my RCAs, and that made me decide to take advantage of it.

It says you cannot open it by phone, but the reps will open it if you can fund it. Money in your checking or savings at Navy will do it. ALSO - I was able to open and fund it from an external "pay by check" (equivient to writing a check) from an external bank account.

Did the CD on Monday. Drafted from my external account yesterday, and today (Thursday) the CD shows up in my account, back dated to Monday. All is good.
