Judge Says Tech CU Does Not Have To Hand Over Member List

The dissident members, who rallied votes that helped prevent Tech CU from converting to a mutual savings bank, had asked for full access to the credit union’s membership list. Tech CU instead offered to forward e-mails to the 57,620 members for which it has addresses, at a cost of $1,050 for each forward.

The judge apparently considered forwarding emails at a cost of $1,050 as reasonable. It sure looks like the credit union has been trying hard to control the debate over the conversion. Even with the one-sided debate, 77% voted against the conversion.

I hope several of the dissident members run for the credit union's board of directors' positions. Those elections are coming up in 2013.
