I think it is up to the investor to do their homework and research whatever brokerage they do business with.  If they are going to buy uninsured investments,  it doesn't matter if they are with Fidelity or Joe McSnooz Brokerage, they can still lose money.  No matter how many articles which are written, we are always going to have people who have a need to make more money faster and laugh at CDs (especially now).  They are playing the risk game no matter which brokerage they select, imo.
