Gas Station Skimmers That Steal Credit Card Data Hitting Kansas City

Members of one Leawood family discovered that someone had drained about $3,800 from their accounts through ATMs in Southern California before their bank alerted them. Family members retraced their purchases and found the common link was a gas station on State Line Road.Article mentioned two common-sense tips: 1) If you do use a debit card at the pump (perhaps for your reward checking account), use the credit option so you don't reveal your PIN. 2) Monitor your bank and credit card statements regularly and notify your bank immediately if you see any fraudulent purchases.
