Belvoir FCU Now Requiring $500 Or More Monthly Deposit To Maintain Cuxcel Checking Dividend Of 3.25% APY

Belvoir Federal Credit Union will be implementing changes to our CUXcel Checking and Basic Checking products. Please review the information below carefully as your account experience may be affected by these changes.

Members with a CUXcel Checking:
Beginning with the March Qualification Period (2/28/13), the following changes will go into effect:
  • CUXcel Checking will require at least one electronic direct deposit of $500 or more that clears or posts within the given period to qualify for the premium dividend of 3.25% APY on balances up to $15,000 and the ATM surcharge rebates.
  • Bills that are paid electronically through Belvoir Federal's Bill Pay will count towards the 15 Debit Card Transactions that have cleared/posted within a given period.
Members with a Basic Checking:
Beginning March 1, 2013, the following changes will go into effect:
  • Basic Checking will require at least one electronic direct deposit of $500 or more that clears or posts within a given calendar month in order to avoid a monthly $5.00 Basic Checking Service fee. The $5.00 fee will be applied for members over the age of 25 without an active loan product (loan balance must be greater than $0) or at least one electronic direct deposit greater than or equal to $500 within a calendar month.

It's great that the credit union notified its members with ample notice ahead of the change.   The $500 minimum deposit is hefty, particularly if there had not been a minimum amount specified before.  Allowing the BillPays to count towards meeting the transaction requirement is a nice plus.
