With the launch today of GoBank, Green Dot -- a major player in reloadable prepaid cards -- is betting that an all-new FDIC-insured bank, built from scratch and designed for mobile devices, could be just what people disgruntled with their Chase or Bank of America experience are looking for.
It appears to lack the feature that's the main concern for most of us: paying interest.
One feature that I haven't seen from other banks is an optional monthly fee. Here's what they say about it in their press release:
GoBank charges no monthly fee. However, members can voluntarily pay a monthly membership fee in any amount they think is fair, from nothing up to a maximum of $9 per month.
If you like the idea of a smartphone-centric bank, you can request an invite for membership at gobank.com
