Bank Of France Calls For Savings Account Returns To Be Trimmed

The French central bank proposed on Thursday that the interest rate on regulated, tax-free savings accounts known as Livret A be trimmed to 1.75 percent from 2.25 percent currently.

It's interesting to see that France has this type of tax-free savings account with state-regulated interest rates. According to the article, the limit savers can put into these accounts is 22,950 euros ($29,900) per account. It's also interesting to see that the French central bank is like our Federal Reserve in how they don't have much concern for savers.
