That's a good question in trying to decide between a credit union and a community bank. If they both appear to offer the same products, rates and services, should you pick a not-for-profit credit union over a for-profit community bank?
Having a member-elected board of directors at a credit union is suppose to make the credit union more responsive to member problems. However, I often wonder how much benefit that really is.
