Penfed Outage Started 1230 PT Expected To Be Back Up 1730 PT

Attempt to login is met with:  Our site is experiencing technical difficulties.  We are actively working to resolve the issue. 

A helpful CSR explained it is due to a power outage in Alexandria VA where all servers are located, not a DDOS (distributed denial of service) attack, such as University Federal CU and Patelco CU have experienced recently. 

Website is expected to be back up by 1730 PT.

 

It's just now 1745 PT (5:45pm PT), 7:45pm CT, but you are right that the system is still down.  It's usually an optimistic prediction, isn't it, although in all fairness sometimes you can run into other surprises. 

Edited to add:  According to weather.com Alexandria is currently under a tornado watch so that may be complicating matters too.

I don't know when it came back up, but the site is available now.   After logging in, at the main menu there is a message:  Deposit Anywhere is currently unavailable while we upgrade our system.  We apologize for the inconvenience.  This upgrade will provide enhanced processing and compatibility.

I can't even connect to the site.  According to a CSR it was up and running this morning just fine but it went down around noon.  She said they've been told it's a technical issue and it should be back up "anytime".  What that means it's anyone's guess.
