CFPB, NCUA On Consumer Protections: We've Only Just Begun

Top officials from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the NCUA made it clear that the federal government’s efforts to better protect consumers in their financial dealings are not going away, indeed they are likely to intensify.

[The] CFPB assistant director said the agency “is working hard on behalf of consumers who have been deceived.”

She ticked off prime CFPB areas of concern [among them]:

  * Deceptive marketing of financial products.

An NCUA Office of Consumer Protection has also been formed, tasked with helping implement CFPB regulations inside credit unions, as well as education.
