COMMENTS RE:  AMERICA'S CREDIT UNION IN WASHINGTON STATE.

I opened some bump-up certificates at 5% in Oct 2008;  the agreement was that one would be able to add to the principal (up to certain limitations). Then later  I was told by the CU manager and by Customer Service after opening, that I could NOT add any more $$.

After reading on this site, that it  is illegal for the institution to change the rules after the fact, I called America's CU and was then "allowed" to add to the principal.

However this resulted in losing thousands of dollars over the last 12 months, because of not being able to match the 5% on America's certificate.

HAS ANYONE ELSE DEALT WITH AMERICA'S CU?

Re Drjoanv #361: I strongly urge you to file a complaint with the NCUA. As long a people don't file complaints, and the organizations get away with it, the more it will continue.

There are any number of NCUA contacts here:

http://www.ncua.gov/Contact.aspx

Maybe the fraud or the inspector general would be best to contact about making a complaint. They might even seek reparations for you, but even if not, you should file the complaint.
