Current Status Of The Bank Too-Big-To-Fail Legislation

This Forbes article by former Senator Ted Kaufman reviews the long road to a solution to the too-big-to-fail issue. The Legislative proposals currently circulating in Congress are unlikely to become law. There is some talk about reinstating Glass Steagall, that requires the separation of commercial and investment banking, but that is even less likely than the other legislative proposals.

Now why in the world would they want to pass any of the above mentioned legislation?

All 535 members of Congress are worth an average $966,001 each, according to a new analysis by the Center for Responsive Politics.  Almost 50 percent of the lawmakers have a net worth of more than $1 million, with many of its members being in the nation's top "one percent".
