With 18.5% of wages in Washington, DC going to federal workers, George Mason University economists expect the government shutdown to cost the area in excess of $200 million per day. Bakersfield, California is #10 on the list, with more than 10,000 workers furloughed at Edwards Air Force Base.
Among the unexpected cities on the list: Honolulu, Hawaii and Dayton, Ohio.
