For the second straight year, millions of Social Security recipients, disabled veterans and federal retirees can expect historically small increases in their benefits come January.

Finally, some good news from SB!  Just the fact that they are discussing the COLA reassures me that we just may actually still get our SS checks.  Then again, with Washington, it depends upon which way the wind is blowing as to what they actually do.

Am I the only one who is reading these other blogs where Americans are so angry at the government?  They must not have posting rules on those other blogs because those people are allowed to put their anger into some "hot" words.  This Shutdown stuff may have been the "straw that broke Washington's back" with Americans.

I don't read what people think, I read what is being done to fix this mess. I find it more encouraging, more informative. I actually think this is about taking the job away from the House Speaker.  I think this is an internal fight amoung the republicans that has gotten out of control.

For those that want senior information the SS raise was reported on Oct 3 on the seniorjournal. It has several postings each week with senior information

#2  Those blogs happen to be beneath the articles giving info about this mess.  I don't just roam the blogs looking for nasty talking people. :)  Seriously, I happen to like Boehner, the Speaker now much better than I ever liked Pelosi .  I just think he is having a tremendously difficult job getting both sides to cooperate and come up with something.  How can you not love a man who can cry in public?  :)

BTW, I do know Boehner is being blamed for "holding up the vote" because he doesn't think it will get passed.  I am not happy with him about this.  I think he owes it to us to at least try it!  Then again, not everyone is perfect so maybe he'll come to his senses soon.

It is comments then and not blogs that you were reading?

Boehner changed the rules in the middle of the night on Oct 1 so that only republicans can call for a vote with there is no agreement.

#5  My wording was incorrect in the post.  It was comments on different articles I was reading about the Shutdown.  I don't see how Boehner can arbitrarily change the rules unless he knows he is within his rights as the Speaker.  Then again, is anything running normally in Washington right now??  I haven't turned on the tv news yet but doubt if it will be good.
