Credit Unions: A Better Bet Than Banks? [WSJ]

Sunday, June 6, 2010 - 5:18 AM
This WSJ article does a good job at pointing out many of the benefits of credit unions. However, it does make one little mistake by implying all credit unions are federally insured. A few credit unions only have private insurance via American Share Insurance (ASI). Coincidentally, one of the credit unions mentioned in the article, Interra CU in Indiana, is one of these with only ASI. Interra happens to offer a high-yield reward checking account paying 4% APY on balances up to $10K.
