Interest Rate Clues From Bernanke's Interview

Tuesday, June 8, 2010 - 6:44 AM
According to this CNN article, the "Fed chairman spoke with a little more candor than usual" in an interview on Monday night. There was nothing unexpected in the interview, but it does appear there's no end in sight for the very low interest rates:
Bernanke said he couldn't predict when the Fed would raise interest rates next. But he said it depends on the state of the economy, unemployment rates and inflation trends.

And Bernanke doesn't see any near-term improvement in unemployment. From the article "He warned the unemployment rate will remain high 'for a while.'"
