Takes 10 Months To Get Online Id & They Are Too Busy To Answer The Phone Most Of Time - Limited Access To My Money
Bank of the Sierra
(1 stars)I gave all the paperwork to open this account back in May of 2009. Crystal Prieto called me and approved me almost immediately but asked are you serious about using this account and that should have been my first red flag. She said, we have lots of customers open accounts and never use them - red flag, red flag! It took this bank 10 months to get me a sign-on so I had to make other arrangements as to where to put my $25,000. What good is an online bank account without the ability to logon? Finally after 10 months, they get it set up so I have everything ready to go for my next $25,000. Then I get a notice that they have inactivated my account for inactivitiy - well of course I am not going to use it if I don't have a logon! So I have to sign paperwork saying I intend to use it and Crystal Prieto says my logon will no longer work and she has to send me via snail mail another code to start the sign up process to get a log in all over again. That was 3 weeks ago. Still no way to log in to my account. So I try calling, again usually you can't get speak to a live person because they are too busy. So I have to play telephone tag with them. When I finally get to speak to a live person, they tell me I can not close my account over the phone, I have to use my log on, and I say that is exactly why I am closing the account because your bank can't seem to give me a logon! No checks either! Fortunately, I only put a small test amount in the account waiting to make sure it works properly before putting in my $25K. So, I am going to use my debit card to get out all my money. So I warn everyone to be careful with this bank. If you decide to try it, put in a nominal amount and make sure everything works satisfactory to you before depositing more or relying that any transaction will go the right way. I am closing my account because even if they finally get my 2nd login to me after 1 month, it is just a sitting time bomb until they do something to remove my login again - totally not worth it. I recommend Bank2, Farmers & Merchants, and Royal Banks of Missouri who all have been very customer oriented with me and great customer service! I also was very happy with Malvern until they lowered their rates!
CSR just said again I CAN make deposits to the account without having an online id! Bank of Sierra should say "instead of online banking, we offer goblind banking. You give us your money and we won't let you see the transactions." Every other bank, credit union or S&L I've ever set up an account with was able to give me a logon in under 20 minutes!
