Shorebank's Ill-Fated Crosstown Expansion

The Chicago bank, which provides financial services in distressed parts of the city, is reeling, in part, because it made loans to borrowers in low-income neighborhoods away from its historical focus on Chicago's South Side, according to a person familiar with the bank's strategy.

I hope ShoreBank can hang in there. They used to offer a very competitive online savings account (see review), but the rate was slashed early this year (perhaps due to its capital levels).
