Municipal CPI Bonds

Thursday, July 22, 2010 - 8:52 PM
Dr. Don at Bankrate answers a reader's question about investments for those concerned about rising inflation. In addition to the typical investments like TIPS and Series I Savings Bonds, Dr. Don mentions Municipal CPI bonds. This is the first time I've seen these. According to Dr. Don, they are rare.

I've found more details about municipal CPI bonds at Merrill Lynch.

Great link, Ken!

A thought, for some to consider:

Municipal (town, city, state).  There is discussion of whether or not specific municipalities are at risk of default.  Some think whole nations are at risk of this.  Others think that's just silly.

An investor in any muni bond, etc, may want to investigate the discussion of town, city, state, country default risks.  Unless you think the whole issue of default is ridiculous...
