In Cash Glut, Banks Try To Discourage New Deposits

Most large and regional banking companies are drowning in deposits, raising concern that excess liquidity could be a drag on earnings in coming quarters.

This is yet another reason for the low deposit rates, and it doesn't appear this will improve in the near term.
