The problem with Everbank's remote deposit service is that it cannot accept uploads of scans made in advance, and it's impossible to use a network scanner. E.g. you scan a check at work, and bring the image file home. There is no way to submit that image file for deposit. You must use Everbank's special software which has direct control over your scanner - which only works if it's a TWAIN scanner that is not using a network interface.
There are some credit unions that will accept image file uploads for deposit.
This is a page that shows all banks accepting remote deposit, and it indicates the credit unions that take image scans: http://paperless.wikia.com/wiki/Remote_Check_Deposit
