According to some surveys, only one in four consumers has responded to banks' furious attempts to get permission to keep on charging. And of those responding, less than one-third are saying yes -- that they want to pay fees instead of having the transaction rejected.
I'm surprised we haven't seen banks offering bonuses for opting into overdraft protection (I assume the new regulation allows that). Would you opt in if the bank offered you a cash bonus? If you are always careful not to overdraft, it would be an easy bonus.
