Banks Where You Can Avoid ATM Fees

Monday, September 13, 2010 - 4:54 AM
This NY Times Bucks blog post reviewed a few banks that don't charge ATM fees and reimburse fees charge by other banks. It mentioned USAA Bank and Charles Schwab Bank. I'm surprised if left off Ally Bank. Ally automatically refunds ATM fees for customers with either its Interest Checking Account or Money Market Account.

I was also surprised the article didn't mention credit unions which are often part of nationwide networks where you can use ATMs without fees.

And it also left off reward checking accounts which typically offer refunds of ATM fees when you meet the monthly requirements.

ATM Fees can be easily avoided if you plan accordingly and always carry sweet cash, that's free and no hassle. I have not paid an ATM fee in years, it is the most ridiculous way to waste money.  Well, at least one of the most ridiculous ways.
