How Much Money Is The Metal Worth In Your Coins?
Coinflation.com is an interesting website where you can see how valuable the metal is in your coins. Some examples include:
A penny minted from 1909 to 1982 which has 95% copper is worth 2.28 cents.
A nickel minted with 35% silver from 1942 to 1945 is worth $1.13.
But don't get any ideas about melting coins for profit. The government made this illegal in 2006. Coinflation has an interesting article about this.
