Future Interest Rates At Smartypig?

The New York Times Bucks Blog has an interesting SmartyPig review with some quotes from management in charge of SmartyPig. The man behind SmartyPig's interest rates appears to be a BBVA Compass Senior VP, Rick Claypoole. Here is what he had to say about future rate cuts:

“We simply don’t know,” Mr. Claypoole said. “It is very much a function of the economic forces in the broader market.”

I'm a little worried about BBVA Compass being the one to decide on SmartyPig's interest rates. It should be noted that the highest deposit rate that BBVA Compass is currently offering is only 1.95% APY on its 5-year CDs.
