Fed To Release Proposed Rules On Limits For Debit Card Interchange Fees

Wednesday, December 8, 2010 - 7:44 PM
From Reuters:
The Federal Reserve is expected to unveil a proposed rule next week that would limit the transaction fees that banks can charge retailers when a customer uses a debit card, according to two industry sources familiar with the matter.

I believe these limitations will only apply to banks with $10 billion in assets, so hopefully, it won't have any direct effects on reward checking accounts which are mostly offered by small banks and credit unions.
