Is Your Personal Inflation Rate Higher Than The CPI?

Sunday, December 19, 2010 - 10:29 AM
From the CBS MoneyWatch Retirement Roadmap blog:
According to the official numbers, CPI clocked in at a paltry 1.1% on a year-over-year basis. But that might differ from your personal rate of inflation.

According to this article, you might have seen a 1.1% inflation last year (or lower) if you didn't have kids in college, didn't have much health care costs and didn't drive much. I have a feeling most saw more inflation than that even if they matched the ideal case.

Pretty much applies here: no kids, not many health issues, company car - no inflation in this household.
