Wachovia Refuses To Close Checking Account

Thursday, January 27, 2011 - 11:47 AM
First Coast News describes an incident in Jacksonville Florida in which a woman was trying to close her dad's Wachovia checking account:
Last weekend, she said, from his hospital bed her father tried to close a Wachovia Bank checking account because he was tired of the $20 monthly service fee, but when she helped him give the necessary information, closing the account became impossible.

Was Wachovia wrong or insensitive? Or did they do their job to ensure the account was protected?

The extra (most of the time unnecessary) security measure often causes pain and suffering for the authentic customers and offers little (if nay) actual protection against criminals.  Ironic, but sad and true.

In this case, the CSR had nothing better to do but giving the real customer additional pain/suffering.  That is what banks are for:D
